It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Life has been a little strange lately, but I’ve missed my motorsport family, and it feels good to be back in your inbox.
If you’ve been racing, wrenching, or hustling, let me know what you’ve been up to — I genuinely want to hear it.
In this edition of the newsletter, I'm bringing you some tips from the top of motorsport and football to give you inspiration for 2026.
🦁 From the Lionesses: inspiration for grassroots racers
In my recent post about the Lionesses and grassroots sponsorship, I talked about how they’ve built something powerful without relying on the 'traditional' pathways to fame. Their success comes from:
- Identity and purpose — they know exactly what they stand for, and brands buy into that.
- Relatability — fans feel connected because the players are open, human, and present.
- Community first — they’ve nurtured an audience who actively champions them, which makes sponsorships far easier to secure.
For grassroots drivers, this is your blueprint. You don’t need a pro contract to attract great partners; you need a strong identity, a clear mission, and a community that is cheering for you.

Quick tip
When pitching, start with what the sponsor already cares about. Don’t lead with “I’m a racing driver”; lead with the outcome: new customers, community engagement, better content, internal morale, innovation. Your racing then becomes the vehicle (pun intended) for those outcomes.

🏎️ From Formula 1: the power of activation
Meanwhile, Formula 1 is a masterclass in turning sponsorship into an experience. A few lessons worth stealing:
- Sponsors don’t want logos; they want engagement.
- Data matters. Even small creators can prove value with simple metrics.
- Make the partnership bigger than the track. Behind-the-scenes content, lifestyle storytelling, human moments — this is where sponsors see real ROI.
The takeaway? Whether you race karts or GT cars, your job is to help sponsors do more with their message, not just stick a sticker on your car.
